4 Days | Tanzania’s Second-Highest Mountain
A crater-rim summit inside Arusha National Park
Mount Meru is an active stratovolcano and the second-highest mountain in Tanzania, rising to Socialist Peak at 4,566m inside Arusha National Park. Unlike Kilimanjaro, every group is escorted by an armed park ranger through the wildlife-rich lower slopes, a genuine safari walk on your way to the summit.
The final climb follows a narrow, exposed crater-rim ridge that rewards climbers with sunrise views of Kilimanjaro, the Ash Cone, and the Momella Lakes. It is an ideal acclimatization trek before a Kilimanjaro climb, or a stunning adventure in its own right.

Every Nyota climb is private: your group, your dates, your pace.
$1,286 per person (1-3 climbers)
Group rate, 4 or more: $1,164 per person
Start at Momella Gate inside Arusha National Park with your armed park ranger escort. The trail climbs through wildlife-rich montane forest where giraffes, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, and colobus monkeys are often seen.

Start around midnight and climb via Rhino Point (3,800m) and Cobra Point (4,350m). The final stretch is a narrow, exposed crater-rim ridge to Socialist Peak, with sunrise views of Kilimanjaro, the Ash Cone, and the Momella Lakes. Descend to Miriakamba Hut.
Descend through forest back to Momella Gate, collecting your summit certificate at the gate before transferring to Arusha.
